The World-Wide Anti-Conscription Unity  (WWACU), or the Anti-Conscription Unity (ACU) as its short name is a group loosely formed by members from dozens of countries and areas.  It was founded on 17 March 2000.  The goal is to get rid of conscription, compulsory enrolment for military, from country to country.  Conscription is less and less favoured in many countries.  The discussion group is here, where anyone may join.

Night Watch 2 - Welcome to a political discussion forum for people of good will of all cultures.  Our common theme is our support of independent thought and expression that affirm human rights around the world.  The staff at Night Watch 2 endorse gay rights at all levels starting from birth.  We advocate policies of government that favor robust and stable fiscal policies, ethical conduct, full accountability and freedom of information in order for citizens to approve or to challenge our elected government.  These matters we believe must be standard for all citizens of the United States.  We support the complete separation of state and any form of organized religion.  in domestic, pedogogical, economic, environmental, interstellar and foreign relations matters we maintain implacable opposition to the policies of George W. Bush, or any other such person who places the interests of monied minorities ahead of the well being of youth, veterans, the poor and elderly.

The Poole Parliament - Is a non partisan forum for local residents in Poole, Dorset, UK, to debate and vote on local issues.

The Earth Rainbow Network - Founded in February 1997, has an extensive list of more than 2,650 people in approximately 50 countries sharing information, visions and feedback on a broad range of subjects as a way to expand and deepen global awareness and the sense of forming a global spiritual community, gradually empowering itself to contribute in shaping the future of this world.

Socialist Party of New Jersey - We're a democratic socialist political party/organization based in New Jersey.  With a mailing list you can subscribe to here.

Che-Lives - Without question the biggest and most popular site dedicated to the memory of Ernesto "Che" Guevara. (1500+ unque visitors per day) Che-Lives provides an archive of Che's writings, speeches, articles, biographies, multimedia, links and more.  Che-Lives also runs a well frequented (500+ posts a day, 5000+ members) leftist message board, with members from all around the world, of the whole leftist spectrum and of all ages.  Also there is an e-zine available with articles written by members of the Che-Lives community.

Free to Question - I'd like to welcome any potential active participants to join a nascent web movement geared towards those who view traditional protests and petitions as limited in the engagement of "the others side".  FTQ works under the premise that even the most ardent idealogue must pause to reevaluate his viewpoint when confronted with a thoughtful question.
Free to Question operates under the belief that it is engaging individual minds trusting them to do what is just rather than what is expected.

Storm Warning - A moderated group of 20 + people who discuss international affairs and domestic politics.

Propriety Now - I don't oppose anyones right to express themselves or to broadcast those expressions if they wish.  I feel however that we do have a right to determine what is suitable to be broadcast into our homes.  I'm not talking about a parental control gizmo.  I want responsible programming and network censorship.  I am hoping that I am representative of a vast market share who's wants have not been fulfilled by in what has become a highly competitive industry in which the consumer has a broad array of options.
I wish to use my group as a think tank for like minded people to create a model of what we want in a broadcasting system.
Then I wish to see public approval for that model.  It doesn't have to be approved by a majority of the people, only enough to constitute a market share.
Then I wish to convinve one or more media systems of the economic viability of this model.

Iowa Peace - Books for a Better World, by Mike Palacek, former federal prisoner for peace, congressional candidate, newspaper reporter.

A U.S. foreign policy based on promoting peace, democracy, human rights and respect for international law.
An end to the israeli occupation of the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem.
A resolution of the Palestinian refugee problem consistent with international law and equity.
An end to all violence against civilians.
Peace among the peoples of the Middle East.
We are among the many American Jews who say to the U.S. and Israeli governments:  "Not in our names!"
JVP supports peace activists in Palestine and Israel, and works in broad coalition with other jewish, Arab-American, faith based, peace and social justice organizations.
US foreign policy must promote democracy and human rights.  The United States must stop supporting repressive governments in Israel and elsewhere.  The United States must cease interfering with international efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
US military aid to Israel must be suspended until the occupation ends.  This aid enables the occupation and contributes to the devastation of Palestinian society.  It belies the U.S. claim to be a neutral broker, and fosters militarism here and in Israel.
Israelis and Palestinians have the right to security, sovereignty, and self-determination within political entities of their own choosing.
Israel must end its occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem, completely withdraw from these occupied territories and relinquish all settlements, military outposts and by-pass roads.
Jerusalem has to be shared in a manner that reflects its spiritual, economic, and political importance to both Israelis and Palestinians, as well as to all Jews, Muslims and Christians.
The plight of Palestinian refugees needs to be resolved equitably and in a manner that promotes peace and is consistent with international law.  Within the framework of an equitable agreement, the refugees should have a role in determining their future, whether pursuing return, resettlement, or financial compensation.  Israel should recognize its share of responsibility for the ongoing refugee crisis and for its resolution.
The parties must equitably distribute water and other natural resources.
Diplomatic negotiations between the two parties must be held unconditionally, countries other than the U.S. should be involved in peace negotiations.  An international peacekeeping force should be established to protect all civilians.
All people of the Middle East deserve the right to democratic participation and equality within their societies, regardless of religion, etnicity, culture, national origin, language, race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or other status.
Israel must cease its use of military force against Palestinian civilians, including attacks involving American-supplied F-16s and Apache helicopters.  Moreover, Israel must stop land seizures;  destruction of homes, infrastructure, orchards and farms;  arbitary arrests and imprisonments;  torture;  assassinations;  expulsions;  curfews;  travel restrictions;  abuse at checkpoints;  raids;  collective punishment;  and other violations of human rights.
Palestinians must stop suicide bombings and other attacks on Israeli civilians.
The international community must support Palestinian efforts to promote democracy and human rights, while understanding that this aim cannot be fully achieved under occupation.
Racism and bigotry cannot be tolerated, whether in the U.S. or abroad, whether against Arabs or against Jews.

In a country where the poor and old cannot afford health care, in a country where the economy is falling apart, in a country where 44 million people live on less than $12,000 a year, in a nation where over 2 million people are homeless, in a country where the entire media system is owned by only 6 media mega conglomerates, in a nation with the highest crime rate, in a country with the largest prison population, in a society where 60% of marriages end in divorce, in a country where 25% of kids under 12 live in poverty, in a country that gives Israel billions of dollars a year when there are over 2 million homeless on our own streets, in a country where the gulf between the rich and poor is growin everyday, in a nation that supports dictatorships in Saudi, Egypt and Turkey, in a country where the government is full of corruption, in a country where 40% of the homeless are VETERANS, in a country with the highest teen suicide and stress rates, and you're telling me our biggest problems are Martha Stewart and DRUGS?

Historians Against the War - Also please visit our website. Our latest statement on the US occupation of Iraq (September 21st 2003):

As historians, teachers and scholars we oppose the expansion of the United States empire and the doctrine of pre-emptive war that have led to the occupation of Iraq.  We deplore the secrecy, deception, and distortion of  history involved in the administrations conduct of a war that violates international law, intensifies attacks on civil liberties and reaches towards domination of the Middle East and its resources.  believing that both the Iraqi people and the American people have the right to determine their own political and economic futures (with appropriate outside assistance), we call for the restoration of cherished freedoms in the United States and an end to the U.S. occupation of Iraq.

International Campaign Against US Bases - The United States maintains military bases and other forms of military presence in over 100 countries.  This network of bases is crucial for the US to project power around the world -- in pursuit of its economic and strategic interests.  In order to prevent the US from waging its illegitimate wars, the global peace and justice movement must campaign for the shutting down of these bases or ending other forms of military presence in each of the countries hosting them.
With this in mind, various parallel proposals have been raised around the world for launching an international campaign against US bases.  A global network composed of communities affected by as well as organizations working on these bases could be a powerful platform for pushing this campaign.
This important project, along with other global anti-war campaigns, was endorsed in the Jakarta Peace Consensus (JPC) of the Global Peace Movements' conference last May 2003, and has since gained the support of other organizations and forums.  (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Arabic versions of the JPC in PDF format can be downloaded from
Focusweb.)
The challenge now is for these otherwise separate and isolated initiatives to come together so that a common campaign plan could be discussed, planned and forged.
The first step is to bring together people working on US bases in an e-mail network or list-serve that will facilitate communication and coordination among its members.
The network is open to:
representatives from communities affected by US bases/military presence; Representatives from local, national, or international organizations working or intending to work on US bases/military presence;  Academics or researchers studying US bases/military presence;  Any other individual or organizxation that could contribute to this campaign.
So, if you fall under any of these categories, just send an e-mail to
herbert@focusphilippines.org with a short background of your community/organization and/or of your work.

Peace Now - The Israeli Peace movement - was founded in 1978 by 348 reserve officers and soldiers of the Israeli Defense Forces.  The first and only mass movement in Israel, PEACE NOW rapidly became the single most important extra-parliamentary force for peace in the country, attracting hundreds of thousands to its mass rallies and activities.
The first and primary goal of PEACE NOW has been to press the Israeli government to seek peace - through negotiations and mutual compromise - with our Arab neighbors and the Palestinian people.  Only peace will bring security to Israel and ensure the future of our people.
PEACE NOW adheres to the Zionist values upon which the state of Israel was founded, believing that a democratic, Jewish state can and must be secured without subjecting another people.  In recognition of the simple fact that there are two peoples in this land, Palestinians and Jews, each with a history, claims and rights, PEACE NOW has called for the recognition of the rights of the Palestinians to self determination in their own state, alongside Israel.  To this end, PEACE NOW has led the struggle for negotiations with the PLO and over the past twenty years succeeded in bringing a turn about in Israeli public opinion from less than 1% in favor of the establishment of a Palestinian state to over 50% supporting this in 1997.  In the interests of a secure and lasting peace, it is envisaged that the Palestinian state be demilitarized of certain weapons, and its western border correspond in general to the green line, open to the movement of persons and goods.  Even the tragic scourge of terrorism can best be combated by a realistic and just peace based on mutual agreement.
Born in the struggle for a peace treaty with Egypt and supporting the accords reached, PEACE NOW ha sought to solidify this peace through exchanges with Egyptian officials and leading intellectuals formerly opposed to peace with Israel.  PEACE NOW led the mass movement against the 1982 war in Lebanon.  PEACE NOW continued to urge the resolution of issues with Lebanon and the final withdrawal from Southern Lebanon.  PEACE NOW has advocated a peace agreement with Syria on the basis of israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights in the framework of security arrangements and the establishment of peaceful relations with Damascus.  Israel will never be secure so long as it is not at peace with this powerful neighbor.
PEACE NOW is open to any and all persons dedicated to the struggle for a peaceful, just and lasting end to the Arab - Israeli conflict and the belief that security, human dignity and a promising future can only come through peace.  Visit the
Peace Now press group, visit the Peace Now Activities group, visit the Peace Now Discussion group, Visit the Settlement Watch group.  Visit the Peace Now Actvisits group.
Free Thinkers 5 - is a young website about and for free thinkers, who may specifically be rationalists, secularists, libertarians, jurisprudents (with or seeking the wisdom of Right), or gentilists (for the emancipation from a primitive to a civilized mentality).  We are anti-orthodoxy in every field.  We confront contemporary social and political issues.  The freethinker's motto and aim:  Freedom, Truth, Justice.
The Israeli Palestinian Coalition for Peace - Against the background of escalating violence, loss of hope and dehumanization of the 'other' in Israeli and Palestinian societies.  A group composed of politicians, academics, lobby groups, politically affiliated organizations, NGO activists, and cultural figures came together to form the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Coalition - IPPC.
The common denominator for the founding members was a concern for the peace process and the direction in which the respective communities were heading along with a belief that there was an alternative to terror an militarism, that there was a partner and a plan for peace.
In addition the members felt that there was a serious lack of leadership on both sides and that the decision makers in our region were not able or willing to make brave decisions.  Thus some body of people had to provide an alternative and hope to the peoples of the region.  The IPPC is committed to a program of action of political education for peace, of public actions to oppose violence and occupation and promote peace, and to build active international support for a peace alternative.  To this end the IPPC is mobilizing the respective publics, working for a change in attitudes and using all available bought and free media channels.  The formation of a joint Palestinian-Israeli coalition represents an innovation because of the level of coordination and because of the components within each group.  Both include members representing civil society, such as intellectuals and cultural figures, as well as politicians and decision makers.
The creation of this coalition is especially significant when placed within the context of the events of the last thirty months, which have been characterized by violence and revenge, rather than the reconcilliation and cooperation.  In January 2002 the coalition members released a joint statement and declared the intention to work together for a mutual vision.
VISION - To support a cessation of all violence between the two peoples and a return to negotiations, which will lead to the end of the Israeli occupation of UN resolution 242.
1.  The adoption of a two state solution, which guarantees the Israeli and Palestinian peoples the right to live in human dignity and security in their own independent states, along the 1967 boundaries.  Israeli settlements will be removed from the Palestinian state.
